on now until june 24th, 2012

Following a few initial glimpses, we’re given a comprehensive look into Takashi Murakami’s aptly titled “Ego” exhibition that recently opened at Al Riwaq Exhibition Hall in Doha, Qatar. The “Ego” exhibition marks the famed artist’s inaugural exhibition within the Middle East. Showcasing more than 60 works, it is the single largest display of Murakami’s artwork spanning a range of his work from 1997 to present. Easily one of the most notable displays arrives in the form of a massive self-reflective blowup version of Murakami himself filling a 7,500-square-foot space at the gallery. “Ego” finishes off a trilogy of recent exhibitions following on the heels of a stint at Los Angeles’s Museum of Contemporary Art as well as at the Château De Versailles

'qatar museums authority is pleased to present the work of renowned japanese artist takashi murakami in doha, for his
first solo exhibition in the middle east,
' said qatar museums authority chairperson her excellency
sheikha al mayassa bint hamad bin khalifa al-thani. 'the exhibition continues to advance QMA's mission to encourage
global cultural dialogue and exchange, as well as launch the 2012 celebration of forty years of diplomatic relations
between qatar and japan

OMG!!! So cuteeeeeeee............

Argggg.............i wanna grab them home... :(

Takashi Murakami's "KaiKai and Kiki" are displayed in the window of the new store of the international art powerhouse, Gagosian Gallery. The Gagosian Store is located at 988 Madison Avenue. The retail space purveys prints, one-off pieces, publications, and also doubles as an exhibition space. Following the Andy Warhol credo, the store offers "pop art that is popular, transient, expendable, low cost, mass produced, young, witty, sexy, gimmicky, glamorous and big business."

The Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami created animation characters Kaikai, a childlike character and Kiki, a companion with three eyes and sharp fangs. They are examples of Mr. Murakami's signature superflat style.
